History still inevitable

No lessons having been learned, the inevitable has happened again, this time with Florida state legislator Bob Allen. I had read about this in Savage Love, but didn’t hear about his excuse until dan mentioned that Allen says he only offered to blow the cop because, well, “This was a pretty stocky black guy, and there was nothing but other black guys around in the park,” and he felt he had to resort to desperate measures to avoid becoming “a statistic”. As John Scalzi puts it: “Allen would rather be seen as a terrified racist than as someone willing to solicit strangers in a public restroom to get some man-on-man action. Well, here’s the thing, Mr. Allen: Clearly, you can be both.”

Hopefully his arrest together with this preposterous excuse will ensure that no homosexuals, anti-homosexual bigots, Black people, or anti-racists ever vote for this man again, which should be enough to keep him out of office, even in Florida.

Ah, those silly moral conservatives. I wonder who’ll be next?
