New toy; This week’s lessons from life

Sunday: Do not drive a U-Haul in the snow. They’re too cheap to install snow tires, and since cargo & cube vans are generally rear wheel drive, when driven without a load have almost no traction. If you must do this, avoid hilly cities (like mine).

Monday: The Joy of Cooking’s recipe for pearl tapioca pudding takes bloody forever. The result is tasty, but too heavy on the eggs. Oh, and if you don’t use a double boiler you’ll make a hell of a mess.

Tuesday: Mailing parcels from NYC to Montréal is really fast.

Wednesday: Yellow fever vaccine gives me a headache. (Still, I imagine yellow fever is rather worse.)
