O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

The provincial government here has finally passed its bill banning smoking in “all enclosed public spaces”. For the past few months, bar owners, while accepting the law as inevitable, had lobbied to have it come into force on May 31st 2006, the same time as a similar law in Ontario, but Charest decided on January 1st 2006 instead. I really grew accustomed to going to bars and clubs without coming home smelling like an ashtray after a municipal ban was passed in Waterloo in 2000, and can hardly wait to be able to do that here. At least they’ll all have their windows open for the next several months.

…..

Hmmm… I’ve been too serious here lately. So, now for something completely different: the poem “Jabberwocky” in Yiddish!
