The car-free city

I have not really been blogging lately. I must be too busy with real life or something. Anyways, I don’t have time just now to rectify that, but I just wanted to let those of you in Montreal know that Ste-Catherine downtown will be blocked to cars from Berri to Papineau, from June to September. That street’s a parking lot all summer long anyways. Maybe next year, they’ll block even more! Area merchants are delighted, and the borough mayor seems steadfast in his resolve: his only advice to fed up drivers is to take public transit.

Speaking of other good reasons to not own a car, 10cm of ice pellets are expected to fall today. As I type this my neighbours are digging out their cars. I’m very happy to be sitting here drinking tea instead.
