And since I’ve been asked: the riots just lasted one night and weren’t very close to where I live in Montreal, and the news reports of a poor, heavily immigrant neighbourhood policed almost entirely by white officers are pretty much correct. Conflicts between youth and police aren’t all that rare but usually no-one dies.
