Getting around Montreal

So Sh. and I got back last week from a great 2½ weeks in Europe, although I left the next day for a five-day trip to Ontario for work. Fun times, took lots of photos and have plenty of stories to tell, etc. That can come later.

Right now, I wanted to talk about Montreal’s twenty-year transportation plan. I’ve just read that the mayor wants to further increase the number of bike lanes (to 800 km), add streetcars and more bus lanes on busy streets, expand the métro (even though three new stations just opened), create a light rail link to the airport, and pay for it in part by tolling drivers on bridges heading south off the island.

Wow! This is great!
