How not to prepare for a trip
I think I should not see Tsotsi before travelling, even if Johannesburg crime rates are coming down… too much paranoia can be bad for you. On the other hand, Hotel Rwanda, Shake Hands with the Devil, and Darwin’s Nightmare were informative. And although I saw a trailer for it yesterday, I don’t think it’ll be possible for us to see Un dimanche à Kigali before the 12th.
Then again, we won’t actually be visiting any of the regions described in the movies we’ve seen. So I guess it’s back to flipping through the ever-helpful Lonely Planet for us.
