No butts about it

Woohoo! The smoking ban in bars and restaurants has come into force in Québec! It’s been over five years since this happened in my home town, so I really disliked going back to smoky bars when I moved to Montréal. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this day ever since. (A similar law lands today in Ontario, too, but similar regional bylaws already covered most of the population there anyways.)

I have a particularly emotional reaction to smoking, probably because it’s what did in two grandparents of mine, and I can’t smell cigarettes without thinking of the days I spent at their side as they wasted away in a hospital ward. It always really depresses me, and I’m happy to be able to do with less of that now.

So, hurrah!
