On fearless investigations

Yeah, I know, I only seem to blog about what I’ve read in the news lately. But this is too funny to pass up: ecstasy-like drugs TFMPP and BZP, legal in Canada but banned in some European countries, were recently sold at an Ottawa sex show (as in “consumer trade show”, not “NUDE DANCERS XXX”). These relatively mild amphetamines are marketed as party drugs, but some health professionals believe they should be illegal here because of potential side effects. Not to worry, says the show’s manager, she’s planning to do more research before allowing the vendor to return: “My staff and I have purchased a few of them and we were going to try them and see just what they’re like.”

If only all pharmacological research were so simple.
